Advert Template

“The image I choose represents the uncleanliness that surrounds our lands and oceans. It is to give people an picture of what they are doing that harms or kills our earth. Even though there are rubbish bins people can’t be bothered to walk over to throw their trash away. The main reason the earth is failing is because people are being lazy.” #Every day is Earth Day

For one of the cyber smart task we had to create our own advert to try and persuade people to do something positive. What I did was use the craiyon website to create an image that related to the topic I wanted to talk about. Once my image had been created I wrote a paragraph on how we effect the world with our waste.

Parts of speech

Last week Team tui focused on Parts of speech to have a better understanding on how we can improve on our writing. We had learnt 8 different parts of speech which were Adverb, Adjective, Interjection, Conjunction, Noun, Preposition, Pronoun and Verb. For the first task we had to think of words that can help the sentence make sense. Then on the side we will list down our ideas to compare it to the sentence.

GTS Matariki Festival 2023

Yesterday GTS had hosted a Matariki festival. First thing we had done as a whole school was watch the performances in the hall. We had 4 schools come down to perform their kapa haka group. The schools were Glenbrae, Glendowie primary, Best start and Pt England. Once we had watched all the amazing performances we had went off to our classes to welcome the family’s to the learning we had worked on the past term. We had various activities hosted around the school in each class. There was also various food items sold around the school.

Matariki poem

Earlier this week Team Tui started their learning on Matariki.Team Tui’s focus for the last couple of days was to learn on the history of Matariki. For Writing this week we had to write poems on our senses and the stars of Matariki. For my poem I had chosen the senses Felt, heard and seen along with the stars Ururangi, Wai-puna-rangi and Waita. My poems describe my experience since my childhood days.

Kelly sport-Rugby league

Room 13 had an exciting morning as our class had Kelly sports Rugby League.  All of our class had tried techniques some of us weren’t so confident about but He who stands, lives and He who sits, perishes. There were different warm ups and may I say my knees burn. The first warm up was like Bull rush. As an example we need to crawl on our knees and someone will tackle us and if we fall on the floor we become a tagger. Afterwards we repeated this game but on our feet. Of Course I got bumped off and fell on my back but I had fun. Likewise this was good practice for the people who are going to the rugby tournament this week. Sometime later on it had turned into a game boys vs girls. Us girls had 1 point but then the coaches changed it to mixed teams. On the other hand people turned on their pro mode and went to try hard. In the end all of us had enjoyed our time we had.

Orange and water experiment

Title: Orange and water experiment

Hypothesis/Prediction (What I think will happen and why?)

My Hypothesis is that it will sink due to the weight of the orange

Equipment/Materials

A bucket of water and a orange

Method

Fill up your bucket and then grab your orange and see if it sinks or not.

When you see if it sinks or floats, peel your orange and see if it is different to your last result.

Evaluation

When we put the orange in it floated and it was different to my prediction. After we had peeled the orange and put it in it sank so the I was also right.

Air pressure experiment

Title: Air pressure experiment

Purpose:

To understand air pressure.

Hypothesis/Prediction (What I think will happen and why?)

My hypothesis is that the air pressure from the hair dryer will make the ping pong ball float. The reason I think it will float is because the air will be pressing against the light ball that will lift the ball making it float.

I think all that would happen is that the ping pong ball will just float depending on the pressure of the air.

Equipment/Materials

A hair dryer and a ping pong ball.

Method

Grab a hair dryer, and a ping pong ball. Basically all you need to do is plug the hair dryer in, place the ball on top then turn it on. Now the ping pong ball should float.

Discussion

Once I plugged the hair dryer in and turned it on. I put the ping pong ball on it and it started floating. Once it floats for an average amount of time it starts to stay stiff in the air.
